I’m currently 18 years old and live in Eastern Helsinki in the suburb of Kontula. I don’t have any “real” hobbies at the moment, but I like hanging out with friends, listening to music and other rather basic stuff. I have tried playing guitar in the past, but I soon realized I didn’t have enough passion and/or patience to actually learn something. I still have my acoustic guitar somewhere though, in case inspiration strikes again. I’ve also played soccer for a few years in the past.

I’m not really a huge fan of movies or tv shows in general, I usually only watch tv when there’s nothing else to do. Going to cinema to watch a movie every now and then is fun, but the problem with this is that 95% of the movies that run in the cinemas don’t interest me at all. I’ve come to the conclusion that I should dig deeper into the world of underground movies to find something actually interesting.

I still have some favorites that have impressed me in one way or another. I like old James Bond movies, especially the ones with Roger Moore. I like the way they combine action, humor and a good plot into a movie that’s simply pleasant and quite easy to watch. I don’t really like what these movies have become, they’ve turned James into an invincible and cold killing machine and the movies theirselves focus way too much on “dramatic” explosions and other special effects. This seems to be the main problem and the reason I don’t like new action movies, really.

Thoughts and Revelations

Needless to say, I’m really happy we got the movie done in time. The movie turned out to be better than I expected it to be in the beginning. There still are some things I would have done differently. Some scenes, like the one with the sorting hat and the one where Harry & co. play wizard chess, are a little too long in my opinion. However, I was not only way too shy to tell my opinion, but also too uncreative to figure better ways to execute these scenes. So I guess I shouldn’t complain.

During the last few weeks I might have spent a bit too much time playing Bejeweled Blitz or something while I should’ve been doing something more important. I still think I managed to complete almost all tasks I was given and in the end the whole thing turned out to be great so I guess it didn’t matter that much.

I had two roles in the movie, I played Draco Malfoy and the Troll in the girls’ bathroom. It’s kind of funny, I was (?) the only one with two actual roles and also the only one with no lines in the movie. Besides being Draco and Troll, I helped in a couple of scenes, for example in the final scene I was the one who held the mirror. I also shot a couple of scenes and helped with something behind the scenes, I just can’t remember what πŸ˜€

I think our team worked really well and from what I saw, everybody had fun also. This was no ordinary course and to be honest, I would’ve never attended it if I wasn’t in a desperate need of english courses. Now I’m really glad I did attend, I had never done anything like this before and this was definitely a positive experience for me.

One Response to “Matti”

  1. Thanks Matti, this is awesome! I didn’t know you were such a talented writer! I guess playing all those Bejeweled games didn’t do your language skills too much damage πŸ˜‰ Could you please download that picture of us that Maarek took with your camera and put it on the page that has the speech? It would serve as a great illustration and we could grab it from there for the Year Book in the future…
